What is community college?

A Community College is a higher education institution that provides workforce education and credit transfer to UGC approved University's academic programs. Under Community College scheme you earn sought after certifications, diploma, advance diploma and a subsequent degree in BA, B.Com, BSc and BVOC. Abdul Kalam Community College was incepted with following objectives in adherence to the UGC Guidelines and

scheme for Community Colleges in India

  1. To make higher education relevant to the learner and community

  2. To integrate relevant skills in the higher education system

  3. To provide up gradation & Certification to the learner irrespective of their age

  4. To provide opportunity to vertical mobility to higher education in future.

How is community college different from regular college?

A regular degree college is the luxury for those whose situational compulsion makes them take up early employment. A traditional degree college or University in India is rigid in terms of duration of the courses, timing of teaching
learning, choice of subjects and irrelevant curriculum whereas in a Community College you can transfer your prior experiential learning, formal or informal learning into credits (save on your degree tenure), flexible and relevant to
industry to individuals and you earn sought after certifications, diploma, advance diploma and a subsequent degree in  BVOC.

How is community college different from distance learning Universities?

Thou legally the value degree earned from a Distance Learning University and a regular university is same however as per the market reality only 40% of graduates are employable however with Community College students have hands on learning, learning which is relevant to jobs and career progression. So for obvious reasons, someone earning their degree through Abdul Kalam community college is preferred by employers

Will I be eligible for Govt. Jobs?

Since you are graduating from a UGC approved University, you are definitely eligible for any Govt. jobs. 

What Courses can I graduate in?

You can graduate in Industry specific BVOC. 

Are students from NSDC or PMKVY eligible for RPL?

Yes, NSQF level 4 onwards.
